1. Dimensions are a gate, not a promise
The matcher checks the usable width, depth, and height you enter against a product's listed exterior dimensions. A cabinet-size match does not include every lid, door, hose, ventilation, loading, or movement clearance. Where a model misses a dimension, the result shows the gap so you can rule it out instead of treating its rank as a fit guarantee.
2. Setup and priorities change by category
Washer matching considers space, water connection, drainage, load goal, portability, and budget. Other departments use their own needs, such as tank or faucet water supply, freezer layout, mounting method, pull-out access, storage use, or selected features. We do not apply washer weights to desks, shelves, or appliances.
3. What a rank means
The fit finder uses a category-specific score to order candidates. For portable washers, the score adds 35 points for a cabinet-dimension match, 20 for a matching water connection (or 8 when the answer is unsure), 10 for a compatible drain, 25 for the selected load size, 5 for a matching portability preference, and 10 for the selected budget band. Each dimension, connection, drain, load, or budget mismatch subtracts 10 points and appears as a visible gap. If fewer than three washer models fit, the shortlist may still include non-fitting alternatives so you can see what would need to change.
How other departments are scored
For other product departments, the finder adds 60 points for an exterior-dimension match, up to 24 for the selected use tier, 20 for a matching need, 12 for budget, and 8 or 16 for the selected feature preference. When a product exceeds the space, the score loses 3 points per inch of total width, depth, and height overage. Ties favor the narrower product. These weights are ranking aids, not measured performance ratings.
Comparison-page labels
Buying-guide labels such as smallest footprint, value, or capacity describe different use cases within that page's selected models. They are editorial comparison labels, not lab-test awards or a promise that the first item is best for every shopper. Open the linked manufacturer or retailer source and the individual model profile before relying on a critical specification.
How our product experience is used

What a fit result cannot decide

Customer-review links open the retailer’s current feedback page. We do not reproduce retailer star ratings, review counts or review themes without an authorized content source. Product recommendations use published specifications and fit rules, not retailer rating scores.
