The toilet is not a static box. Its tank lid, flush control, water connection, cleaning area, and service path all need to remain usable after storage is installed above it.
Measure the fixture envelope
Record the toilet's widest point, floor-to-tank height, lid size, flush control, and distance from the wall. Include any top button or side lever that needs hand clearance.
Preserve tank and valve access
Lift the tank lid through the full removal path and locate the supply valve and hose. Storage legs, lower braces, and shelves should not prevent shutoff, inspection, cleaning, or basic service.
Map the room around it
Measure baseboard depth, ceiling height, towel bars, vents, windows, electrical devices, and all nearby door swings. A cabinet door above the toilet also needs clear space to open.
Check the unit's inner opening
Compare the product's clear width and height between legs and below the first fixed shelf with the toilet measurements. Outside width alone does not show whether the tank fits inside the frame.
Plan leveling and wall attachment
Bathroom floors and walls may be uneven or moisture-exposed. Follow the unit's instructions for feet, braces, wall restraint, materials, and load placement. Do not rest the frame on the toilet.
